Lunch time Concert at St Stephen's Church, Bristol

Wednesday 16 January 2002 1:10 PM

More than anything else, what I hope to do by performing is to make the piano talk. I wish to express my sentiments through the music of Chopin. In his waltzes there are short tragic poems, expressions of love, confessions of despair and also, of course, an outpouring of high spirits. I try to interpret each waltz as an individual piece, and express what each piece is trying to say.

I think we immersed ourselves in the beautiful atmosphere of Chopin. I really did enjoy playing. Thank you very much for coming and your warm applause. And I thank the people of St.Stephen's Church, especially Gary Desmond, Director of Music at St Stephen's.
